If you are visiting Prince of Peace for the first time, welcome! If you are joining us after the first time—you are already a friend! We ask that you complete the “Welcome” card you will find in the rack on the back of the pew so that we may send you greetings. You are invited to join us for coffee in East Hall at the conclusion of the service. If we can help you in any way, please let Pastor JT or a Council member know (they wear blue name tags!)

BOOK CLUB: Join us on Monday, September 27th at 7:00 PM at the church to discuss Loving Frank, the story of Mamah Borthwick Cheney and her love affair with the brilliant and controversial architect Frank Lloyd Wright. The story is based in Oak Park, IL and brings to light the profound influence that Cheney had on Wright.

Are you an aspiring policy wonk just waiting for an opportunity to showcase your talents? Well, that opportunity is here. A committee is being formed to review the POP Constitution to make sure that it conforms to the latest Synod requirements and does not contain any conflicting language. This is a short-term commitment that should take only a few meetings. Please contact Barb Pourch for more information and to volunteer to serve on this committee.
Please keep this prayer with you and use it in your daily devotions.
Good and Gracious God,
We ask you for your protection of the Gulf Coast areas in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Texas, Florida and adjacent waterways, the protection of the American people living there, the protection of the wildlife, and that this oil leak be stopped and the spill be contained. We are desperately in need of your intervention. Be merciful and grant us this request, for it is in the name of Jesus Christ we pray. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer. Amen
PLEASE BE GENTLE WITH YOUR BULLETIN In an effort to cut costs and be more environmentally responsible, we will be re-using the bulletins from week to week. Please be gentle to your bulletin—do not write on, fold, or crinkle it, then return your bulletin to the ushers or place them in the basket provided after the service so we can recycle them. Take the announcements home as a reminder of important dates and to pray for those who are listed on the prayer list and keep the Celebrate insert for devotions and daily readings.
Desserts for the Community Meal. We have offered to provide desserts in September for the community meal that is served every third Wednesday of the month at Good Samaritan United Methodist Church. Please sign the sheet posted on the Women’s Bulletin Board if you are able to donate a dessert. The desserts should be dropped off at Good Samaritan, located at 960 West Army Trail Boulevard, on Tuesday, September 14, between 10:00 and 2:00 or on Wednesday, September 15, between 10:00 and 4:00. Please see Kathy Carrier if you need to make other arrangements for delivery.
NEW MEMBER CLASS October 10th between services. This class is for anyone who is thinking of joining Prince of Peace. If you know of someone who might be interested in joining, invite them to come to this class.
We can always use more worship assistants. If you would like to try your hand at ushering, greeting or assisting with communion, please contact the church office. If you have a preference for a particular service, we’ll make a note of it.
